Abstract
15 cases of trichinosis occurred in Vadstena, Sweden, in October 1969. No fatal cases were recorded. The source of the epidemic was not found. Almost all patients showed the characteristic diarrhoea, oedema of the eyelids and face, conjunctivitis, headache, myalgia, and pyrexia. The diagnosis was confirmed by laboratory findings, including marked eosinophilia and positive serology. The average duration of illness was about 2 months. All patients recovered without special treatment. Steroids were not needed in any of the cases.
