Abstract

The use of ultrasound (us) for the determination of main component (NaCl) and main admixtures (CaCl2, MgCl2) of natural brine was investigated. The NaCl content was determined using us of ultrahigh frequency (10 to 25 MHz with the optimum at 20–22 MHz) and of 20 W·cm−2 intensity. The admixture concentrations were determined with the simultaneous application of us of ultrahigh (10–25 MHz) and low (18–23 kHz) frequencies at intensities of 20 and 1.3–1.5 W·cm−2, respectively. This approach reduced the lower determination boundary down to 0.1 g·dm−3, i.e., by a factor of 5. An analytical routine of complex determination of sodium chloride and macroimpurities content in brines of different origin was developed using sonoluminescence spectroscopy.
