Abstract

Heterocyclic chemistry is the basis of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug discovery, and it is the science of the synthesis of biological and pharmaceutical molecules. Heterocycles scaffolds are a key component in the structure of most drugs, natural products and biologically active molecules. In the 21st century, nanocatalysts have opened up new chapter for preparing many chemical transformations with extremely high activity and selectivity, low energy consumption and long lifetime. In recent times, nanomaterials were widely utilized as catalyst in the synthesis of a library of highly substituted heterocycles. In this review, we present recent developments in the application of nanocatalysts in the synthesis of highly substituted heterocycles.
