Abstract
The present study aims to study the effect of lemon grass extract (LGE) (Cymbopogon flexuosus) against the methyl methanesulfonate (MMS)-induced toxicity in the third instar larvae of transgenic Drosophila melanogaster (hsp70-lacZ) Bg9. The third instar larvae were allowed to feed on diet having 10 µM of MMS alone and along with LGE concentrations of 1.6 × 10−3 g/ml; 3.2 × 10−3 g/ml; 4.9 × 10−3 g/ml and 6.6 × 10−3 g/ml established in food for 24 h before performing the assays. The present study supports protective function of lemon grass against MMS-induced toxicity.
