Although once seen primarily in military personnel, stress fractures are now becoming increasingly common in athletes. Incidence is especially high in amenorrheic runners. Because this injury is underdiagnosed, a high index of suspicion should be maintained. The authors recommend a thorough medical workup and modification of training regimen and risk factors. A case of stress fracture in a 16-year-old athlete with exercise-induced amenorrhea is presented.
