Diethylamine-Catalyzed Dimerization of Thiols: An Inexpensive and Green Method for the Synthesis of Homodisulfides Under Aqueous Conditions

Abstract

Under H2O / Et2NH / atmospheric oxygen conditions, thiols are converted to their respective homodisulfides within a few hours. The process is conducted at room temperature for quantitative dimerization of aromatic, benzylic, and aliphatic thiols without the use of any extra additive.
