Dear Editor,

We would like to share ideas on the publication ‘STOX1 promotor region −922 T > C polymorphism is associated with Early-Onset preeclampsia (PE) (Akin et al.)’. The role of STOX1 gene promoter region variations in PE was examined by Akin et al. (Citation2022). Sequence analysis results revealed a 922 T > C polymorphism (rs884181) in the promoter region of the STOX1 gene, according to Akin et al. (Citation2022). This polymorphism was found to be statistically significant in people with early onset PE and in PE compared to the control group, according to Akin et al. (Citation2022). We both agree that the investigated polymorphism may be related to PE clinically. Confounding variables, though, should be acknowledged during interpretation. It’s important to be aware of any potential confounding effects from other genetic variations. Numerous genetic variants have been linked to early onset PE. Gene polymorphisms in the interleukin-12B and TIMP1 genes are two examples (Duan et al. Citation2022, Mrozikiewicz et al. Citation2022). It would be interesting to conduct further research to determine the extra consequences of those genetic variations.
