Ariel Nereson

ARIEL NERESON is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University at Buffalo – SUNY. She is the author of Democracy Moving: Bill T. Jones, Contemporary American Performance, and the Racial Past (Michigan, 2022) as well as several essays about movement-based performance, race, and embodiment in the United States. Her research has most recently been recognized with the Robert Schanke Research Award (Mid-America Theatre Conference), and the Sally Banes Prize (American Society for Theatre Research). Ariel is coeditor of Theatre Journal, and a practicing choreographer and dramaturg.
