NASP 2023 Annual Meeting & Expo: Research Presentation Abstracts

&

The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) is hosting its 2023 Annual Meeting & Expo September 18–21, 2023.

The in-person conference agenda includes 45 unique educational sessions organized into four dynamic CORE tracks: Clinical; Operational; Regulatory; and specialty Experience. The conference also features six pre-conference workshops; three keynote speakers; an interactive exhibit hall; continuing education satellite symposia; industry, poster, and scholarship awards and recognition; student-focused programming; and poster presentations.

Specialty pharmacy’s comprehensive, coordinated, and patient-centric model is integral to patients achieving a successful treatment outcome. Specialty pharmacies connect patients who are severely ill with the medications prescribed for their conditions. However, the provision of the drug itself is simply transactional. The value of a specialty pharmacy is directly related to the patient management and product support services provided and patient interaction necessary to maximize the patient’s chances of achieving a successful outcome.

The abstract and poster presentation program provides an interactive forum to showcase research related to specialty pharmacy products and services. Current Medical Research & Opinion, a partnered journal of NASP, publishes the accepted abstracts as a journal supplement, further demonstrating NASP’s commitment to academic literature and the value of complex research. Blinded abstracts are reviewed by the NASP Education Committee Abstracts and Publication workgroup and peer review volunteers. The criteria by which submissions were evaluated included novelty of the research; significance of the findings; relevance to specialty pharmacy; and clarity of research presented.

This year, 81 abstracts were accepted for poster presentation in the following categories: Specialty pharmacy outcomes and practice-based research; specialty pharmacy products, services, or programs (description or evaluation); digital engagement/technology in specialty pharmacy services. Research on specialty diagnosis areas and operational activities are included in the scope of the program offering. Attendees can earn home study continuing education credit (pharmacist, nurse, pharmacy technician) by reviewing the posters and interacting with the authors. In addition to the information published in this supplement, please visit the NASP website to access abstracts and posters from prior years.

NASP is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade organization and the only nonprofit national association representing all specialty pharmacy industry stakeholders. The mission of NASP is to elevate the practice of specialty pharmacy by developing, delivering, and promoting continuing professional education and specialty certification while advocating for public policies that ensure patients have appropriate access to specialty medications in tandem with critical services.

As a membership association NASP provides accredited continuing education programs, hosts an annual meeting that offers educational sessions and continuing education credits, actively engages in federal, state, and grassroots advocacy efforts on behalf of its multi-stakeholder membership, and is the only organization that offers a certification program for specialty pharmacists.

NASP members include the nation’s leading specialty pharmacies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers, group purchasing organizations, patient advocacy groups, integrated delivery systems and health plans, technology and data management vendors, logistics providers, wholesalers/distributors, and practicing pharmacists, nurses, technicians, and students. With more than 175 corporate members and 3000 total members, NASP is unifying the voices of specialty pharmacy. To learn more, please visit www.NASPnet.org.
