Letter from the Editor

On behalf of the Editorial Board of Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, it is with great pleasure that I award the 2006 Outstanding Paper Award to: “Controlled Release of a Poorly Water-Soluble Drug from Hot-Melt Extrudates Containing Acrylic Polymers,” by Yucun Zhu, Navnit H. Shah, A. Waseem Malick, Martin H. Infeld, and James W. McGinity. The manuscript was selected for the year 2006 from among manuscripts published in volume 32 (January 2006–December 2006). In selecting the paper, the editorial board members considered the following questions:

  1. Does the article present original research that has the potential to significantly impact the field?

  2. Is the article of immediate interest to researchers in your own field?

  3. Does the article target a broader audience such that even without immediate knowledge and expertise in this area, the reader will gain useful insight into the state of the art and significance of the findings due to the lucidity of the paper?

  4. Is the article timely, and does the author provide new insight into recent advances?

  5. Are ideas logically presented and discussed?

  6. Do the figures and tables provide clear and accurate information?

  7. Are references appropriately and accurately cited?

I gratefully acknowledge the 2006 Outstanding Paper Award Committee for their leadership and contributions: Dr. Hugh Smyth, Dr. David Taft, and Dr. Kishor Wasan. Congratulations Drs. Zhu, Shah, Malick, Infeld, and McGinity!
