Adieu and Welcome!

After 14 years at the helm, I am stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Teaching in Social Work and turning over the responsibility to my extraordinarily capable colleague, Professor Vicki Lens. Recent years have been ones of significant growth for the journal, with increased subscriptions, downloads, article citations, the publication of 10 widely referenced special issues, and a significant expansion of articles published every year, from 24 to 35. The past fourteen years have indeed been good ones.

Vicki is a quintessential social worker, with BSW, MSW and PhD degrees, all in social work [sssw.hunter.cuny.edu/staff-members/lens-vicki-msw-jd-phd]. In addition, she holds a JD degree and has practiced both social work and the law prior to entering academia. A prolific scholar and accomplished mentor, Vicki teaches both in the master’s and doctoral programs, at Hunter and at CUNY, and has served ably on the editorial boards of sister peer-reviewed periodicals of both professions.

I am just delighted that Vicki Lens is assuming this new responsibility, and I hope you will welcome her warmly as she takes on this important new role, for the journal and for our profession.
