Statement of Retraction: Liver X Receptors Activation Attenuates Ischemia Reperfusion Injury of Liver Graft in Rats

This article refers to:
Liver X Receptors Activation Attenuates Ischemia Reperfusion Injury of Liver Graft in Rats

We, the Editors and Publishers of the Journal of Investigative Surgery, have retracted the following article:

Ming-xiang Cheng, Ping Huang, Qiang He, Yong Chen & Jin-zheng Li (2019) Liver X Receptors Activation Attenuates Ischemia Reperfusion Injury of Liver Graft in Rats, Journal of Investigative Surgery, 32:4, 298–303, DOI: 10.1080/08941939.2017.1412543

Since publication, concerns have been raised about the integrity of the data in the article. Initial findings revealed that Figure 2A, allegedly showing H&E staining of liver tissue in the control group at 24h after reperfusion (×200), was also duplicated in another article outlining different results.

When approached for an explanation, the authors provided responses to our queries, but they have not sufficiently addressed our concerns. The authors listed in this publication have been informed and do not agree with the retraction. Nonetheless, we would like to acknowledge that the authors have been fully cooperative in this process of our investigation.

As Figure 2A has been used to represent different experiments, we do not believe the rest of the data and results presented in the article are reliable. Therefore we cannot confirm the validity of the data reported, and we are retracting the article.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines. The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
