ABSTRACT

Purpose: To report a case of cystoid macular edema (CME) secondary to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)-associated uveitis.

Case report: 26-year-old female patient presented with CME in both eyes. CME became refractory and TCZ-IV was initiated. After 12 infusions was stopped because grade 1 neuropenia developed. On examination, visual acuity of the right eye was 20/80. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) of the right eye revealed CME. Subcutaneous (TCZ-SC) was initiated. After six injections of TCZ-SC, ophthalmic examination revealed no signs of active inflammation, and central foveal thickness decreased.

Conclusion: TCZ-SC seems to have a role in the treatment of CME secondary to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)-associated uveitis
