Statement of Retraction: Vitritis and Outer Retinal Abnormalities in a Patient with COVID-19

This article refers to:
Vitritis and Outer Retinal Abnormalities in a Patient with COVID-19

We, the Editors and Publisher of Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, have retracted the following article:

Luiz A. Zago Filho, Luiz H. Lima, Gustavo B. Melo, Claudio Zett & Michel E. Farah (2020) Vitritis and Outer Retinal Abnormalities in a Patient with COVID-19, Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, 28:8, 1298-1300, DOI: 10.1080/09273948.2020.1821898

After publication of this case report, concerns were raised about figure 1g and 2 in the article. After investigating the issue and contacting the authors, it was determined that figures 1g and 2 show the same OCT of the patient’s right eye but are described in the report as two different images. In their response the authors also identified a further error in the article, that Figure 2 refers to a 2-month follow-up but this should have been stated as a 2-week follow-up in the article. Based on these findings, it was decided to retract this case report. The authors have been notified of this retraction ahead of its publication.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
