This article refers to:
RETRACTED ARTICLE: Long-term effects of combined simvastatin and metformin treatment on the clinical abnormalities and ovulation dysfunction in single young women with polycystic ovary syndrome

We, the Editor and Publisher of Gynecological Endocrinology, have retracted the following article:

Emaduldin Seyam & Enas Hefzy (2018) Long-term effects of combined simvastatin and metformin treatment on the clinical abnormalities and ovulation dysfunction in single young women with polycystic ovary syndrome, Gynecological Endocrinology, 34:12, 1073-1080, DOI: 10.1080/09513590.2018.1490405

Since publication, significant concerns have been raised about the integrity of the data, the study’s methodology, and reported results in the article. These concerns include the fact that the article has several figures in Tables 1, 2, and 3 that overlap with the following study:

Emaduldin Seyam, Saad Al Gelany, Ahmed Abd Al Ghaney, Marwa Abd Allah Mohamed, Ayman Moheb Youseff, Emad Moussa Ibrahim, Eissa M. Khalifa & Enas Hefzy (2018) Evaluation of prolonged use of statins on the clinical and biochemical abnormalities and ovulation dysfunction in single young women with polycystic ovary syndrome, Gynecological Endocrinology, 34:7, 589-596, DOI: 10.1080/09513590.2017.1418853

The authors have been fully cooperative in our request for information, but they have not been able to provide sufficient responses to our concerns about the overlap or provide their original data for review. As we cannot verify the validity of the published work, we are therefore retracting the article. The authors listed in this publication have been informed of this decision, and they do not agree with the retraction.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
