Abstract
This presentation describes the two last decades of Finnish social alcohol and drug research based on work done by the Alcohol and Drug Research Group and The Finnish Foundation for Alcohol Studies. The Group consists of 13 permanent researchers and three research secretaries. The main activity of the Foundation is to award grants for post-gradual students. In recent years alcohol studies have been heavily influenced by Finland's entry into the EU. Simultaneously, the position of drug research has been considerably strengthened.
