Notes

1. An expanding network of simulation centres in the UK is developing and testing a range of educational interventions to improve patient safety in a wide variety of clinical settings. Members of these simulation centres have formed NAMS (the National Association of Medical Simulators, www.patientsimulation.co.uk) a network of healthcare professionals in the UK and Ireland who wish to improve patient safety and the quality of care by developing the educational potential of patient simulators. NAMS meetings and electronic communications provide a forum for exchanging experiences, testing ideas and considering alternative perspectives. NAMS maintains close contact with SESAM (Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine, www.sesam.ws) whose mission is to encourage and support the use of simulation in medicine for the purpose of training and research. SESAM draws its membership from a wide range of professions.
