The award is made annually based upon peer reviewed research and review papers published in the twelve-month period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023. Details of the Award are contained in this issue.

We want to express our outmost gratitude to the former Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Professor Graeme Wright for your dedication and leadership to bring Journal of Spatial Science to where it is today. We also want to thank Assistant Editor Caroline Berryman, who together with Graeme has made the 2023 transition period for me and the new Assistant Editor Dr. Yong Chien Zheng an enjoyable and smooth experience.

We farewell one of our valued members of the Editorial Board. Dr Bob Hickey, Professor at Central Washington University, who has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Spatial Science for several years and has contributed his expertise to peer review of many submissions in his field. Dr Hickey’s dedication to the peer review and manuscript quality is greatly appreciated.

Next year is the 20th year anniversary of the journal having the name of ‘Journal of Spatial Science’. We hope we can celebrate this with the Editors and authors and bring the journal to new levels of academic quality and excellence. Impact factors for 2022 have also been released with the Journal of Spatial Science maintaining a steady and increased impact factor of 1.9. Thank you for the support provided by our authors, subscribers and Editorial Board Members.
