Research Notes: A new section of Cold War History

Cold War History invites submissions from established scholars, early career researchers, and PhD students which highlight their archival work to the broader academic community. Research Notes will include brief reports which introduce primary sources pertinent to the study of the history of the Cold War by featuring:

  • field reports from an archive or library, including new digital holdings, newspaper archives and little-known oral histories

  • commentaries which showcase one archival document or oral history of special significance that has been uncovered during archival research

  • commentaries on formative documents relating to Cold War History in the context of new scholarship and insights

The report or commentary should be no longer than 2000 words. The journal will also reproduce a transcript of a featured document (though this should be no longer than three pages and subject to permissions).

While reports must be written in English, the journal encourages submissions regarding sources and archives in any language, especially from archives outside the United States and United Kingdom. Where source commentaries address documents in languages other than English, the journal may be able to assist with the translation of the source for publication.

Submissions will be reviewed by members of the editorial board. If you would like to submit a proposal or draft, please contact the editorial office at [email protected].
