Article title: “Validation of the prediction model for success of vaginal birth after cesarean delivery at the university hospital in Barcelona”

Authors: A. Baranov, E. Gratacos, O. Vikhareva, and F. Figueras

Journal: The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine

Biblometrics: Volume 30, Number 24, pages 2998-3003

DOI: 10.1080/14767058.2016.1271407

When the above article was published, there are some concepts which need clarification:

1. In the paragraph: “Predicted individual probabilities of successful VBAC were calculated for every woman according to the formula proposed by Grobman et al: predicted individual probability of successful VBAC (%) = exp (w)/[1 + exp (w)], where w = 3.766 – 0.039 (maternal age) – 0.060 (maternal BMI) – 0.671 (African American race) – 0.680 (Hispanic race) + 0.888 (any prior vaginal delivery) + 1.003 (prior VBAC) – 0.632 (recurring indication for prior CD).

In the current study variable “African American race” was corresponding to Sub-Saharan Africa ethnicity and variable “Hispanic race” to Latin America ethnicity”. By “race” the authors meant “origin”.

2. In table 1, instead of the term “White and others, including Spanish and Catalan”, should read “White and Others”.
