ABSTRACT
The ability to gather and use information in an on-the-go format continues to increase. Today, podcast technology allows listeners to subscribe, download, and listen to audio content wherever they are. Mobile listening and learning are transforming the way students, patients, and health care professionals keep pace with the latest information. For many, podcasts provide an access point to new information and learning opportunities. Because the technology necessary to create a podcast is relatively easy to use and can be affordable many people are not only listening to content but becoming content creators and sharing their expertise through podcasts they create, edit, and publish. This article explores podcasting with a focus on the use of podcasts in health and medicine, including in medical education and for patient education purposes.
