Abstract

An investigation was carried out to screen and select efficient vesicular‐arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi for Casuarina equisetifolia L. The seedlings were inoculated with 13 different VAM fungi, which were obtained from various global sources. Inoculated plants exhibited increased plant height, biomass, and P and Zn contents. They also had increased mycorrhizal root colonization and spore numbers in soil. C. equisetifolia seedlings responded best to inoculation with Glomus mosseae (local) followed by G. versiforme.
