ABSTRACT
A novel process for the preparation of a refined coal oil-water slurry from coal tar and an ultra-clean coal filter cake prepared by flotation is presented. The effects of the filter cake water content and coal tar addition on the slurry performance are investigated. The results show that the slurry viscosity decreases and the stability increases with the increasing coal tar content. The viscosity and stability of the slurry decrease with increasing filter cake moisture. The best proportion is 50% coal tar and 40% filter cake moisture. Under these conditions, the high calorific value of the slurry is 28.36 MJ·kg−1, the apparent viscosity is 522.9 mPa·s, and the water bled rate is 3.6%. The slurry has the characteristics of shear thinning and is a pseudoplastic fluid. In this research, coal tar is selected as the oil phase, and there is no need to add an additional water phase in the pulping process. The recovery and utilization of the coal pyrolysis byproducts are realized, and the suction filtration and drying of the flotation ultra-clean coal concentrate products are simplified.
