Abstract

The third instar larvae of transgenic Drosophila were allowed to feed on the diet having 10 µM of MMS alone and along with 10, 20 and 40 µM of Luteolin for 24 hrs. After the completion of 24 hrs, the larvae were subjected to ONPG assay, X-gal staining, trypan blue exclusion test, oxidative stress markers, apoptosis and comet assays. A dose-dependent increase in GSH content and decrease in the β-galactosidase activity, tissue damage, GST activity, LPO, PCC, Caspase-9/3 activities, apoptotic index, and DNA damage was observed in the larvae exposed to 10, 20 and 40 µM of Luteolin along with 10 µM of MMS.
