A comparison of methamphetamine and nonmethamphetamine users in a dual diagnosis facility

Abstract

Methamphetamine use is currently on the rise; however patients who use methamphetamine have consistently shown poor treatment results. The current study examined 14 factors in order to assess if any served as predictors of methamphetamine use. Data were collected from a Midwestern dual diagnosis substance abuse facility. Results indicate that nine of the 14 predictors entered into the model were significantly related to methamphetamine use. Implications for treatment and future research are discussed.
