Page 709 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

The Ralf Loddenkemper foundation board of trustees have decided to grant the annual prize of up to CHF 30,000 to scientific projects in the future. These projects should trigger clinical progress in the areas of child and adolescent traumatology. In particular scientific projects emphasising the prevention of accidents with severe outcomes shall be considered, as well as experimental and clinical research in EBM and efficiency of the growing skeleton in relation to a trauma.

The prize is awarded annually by the “Sektion Kinder-Traumatologie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie (DGU)” and the “Vereinigung für Kinder-Orthopädie” during their shared annual anniversary conference. If a project is awarded the prize, half of the prize—corresponding to the project—will be presented during the conference. The other half will be awarded with the successful completion of the project.

The recipients of prizes shall be individuals engaged in basic or clinical research who are practising in European clinics or research institutes. There are no age limitations for applicants.

There are no limitations on the scope of work to be submitted. The deadline for submitting entries for the 2008 award is December 31, 2007. Five copies of the work should be submitted in either German or English to: Prof. em. Dr. med. Lutz von Laer, ehem. Leitender Arzt, Traumatologische Abteilung der Orthopädischen Universitätskinderklinik beider Basel UKBB, Burgstrasse 12, CH-4125 Riehen/Basel.
