1. Recent years have seen increasing devolution of United Kingdom social care policy and legislation, and the Care Act 2014 and associated guidance apply in England only. However, the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013, and the Health and Social Care (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009, and associated amendments, have many similarities with the English Care Act.
