About the cover

The cover depicts athletes self-dousing with water at a hydration station during the 2022 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championship. This cooling method is used widely in strenuous sports, where body temperature often rises markedly. In the concluding article of this issue of Temperature, Takahiro Oyama and coauthors, based on their modelling results, question the current safety guidelines on thermal thresholds in several sports.
