A NEW METHOD FOR SYNTHESIS OF ALKYLIDENE SULFONES VIA DIRECT ALKYLIDENATING REACTION OF KETONES WITH GEM-DIBROMOMETHYL SULFONES PROMOTED BY THE Sm/SmI₂ SYSTEM IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYTIC AMOUNT OF CrCl₃

Abstract

Alkylidene sulfones were prepared in moderate to good yields via direct alkylidenating reaction of ketones with geminal dibromomethyl sulfones promoted by Sm/SmI₂ system in the presence of a catalytic amount of CrCl₃ under mild conditions.
