Dear Colleagues,
The 10th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP), ‘Leading Through Collaboration’, took place April 7–9, 2014. The meeting, a milestone in ISMPP’s history, celebrated ISMPP’s maturation as a society and focused on promoting collaborations among stakeholders that will establish the society as a leader in the global medical publication arena well into the future.
Thanks to the collective efforts of its members since its inception, the Society is in an ideal position to lead the way by identifying and setting the standards for good publication practice for the global publication community. As ISMPP has grown, we have benefited from collaborations with diverse stakeholders, such as journal editors, in the field of publications. Thus, we hope that a key takeaway message from our 10th Annual Meeting was the importance of enhancing existing collaborations and building new ones between ISMPP and professional scientific/medical societies, academia, and patient advocacy groups.
The abstracts presented at the meeting were culled from a record number of submissions, reflecting the level of commitment and enthusiasm of ISMPP members when it comes to sharing research outcomes and experiences. Presentations included topics such as social media, alternative metrics, authorship, and physician and patient preferences to name a few. This issue also includes the abstracts presented either as oral or poster presentations during the 2014 European Meeting of ISMPP, A New Era in Global Medical Publications, held January 21–22 at St. Paul’s, London, UK.
This supplement represents our sixth collaboration with CMRO. As always, we at ISMPP are deeply grateful to the publishers of CMRO for their continuing support of our Society and its initiatives.
