The Shifting Mainstream of Music in America and Its Implications for Popular Culture Libraries

Abstract

Much of what used to be a part of mass culture in the area of music has been transported over to the fringes of mainstream music during the last fifty years. The implications of this shift for popular culture libraries is discussed.
