Abstract
Millions of people in our society have disabilities. Social workers are often looked upon to provide these individuals and their significant others with guidance and counseling related to matters of sexuality, intimacy and personal relationships. To be adequately prepared to do this, it is important that social workers be in touch with their personal values and beliefs, that they have factual information about sexuality and disability, and that they possess the skills to convey positive attitudes and knowledge to their clients. This paper, therefore, presents a staff development program that trains professionals to help their clients with disabilities develop positive sexual self-images and to aid them in establishing full social and sexual lives.
