Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy wishes to inform its readers of an oversight in the following publication:
Brown ME, DaSilva KA, McLaurin J. Refining an Alzheimer's vaccine to avoid an inflammatory response. Expert Opin Biol Ther 2005;5(6):809-16 Citation[1].
This article contains some information also reported in a previously published article:
Gelinas DS, DaSilva K, Fenili D, St George-Hyslop P, McLaurin J. Immunotherapy for Alzheimer's disease. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 2004;101(Suppl 2):14657-62 Citation[2].
The similarity between the articles occurs in the background and introduction sections, with Brown et al. Citation[1] reporting considerable additional information, including the AN1792 clinical trial data (particularly, follow-up data on cognitive measures) and novel strategies in development to circumvent severe trial side effects.
The editors of Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy and the authors of the article regret that the earlier publication was not referenced and would like to apologise for the oversight.
