Following the publication of the Review by Valentina A Feodorova and Michael J Corbel ‘Prospects for new plague vaccines’, published in the December 2009 issue of Expert Review of Vaccines (Expert Rev. Vaccines 8[12], 1721–1738 [2009]), it has been brought to our attention that the following sentences on page 1723 and 1729 were incorrectly printed as:

1. Fraction 1 plays an important but not essential role for virulence, as F1 strains can cause lethal pneumonic plague in mice and nonhuman primates.”

2. “Although some of these effects could be attributed to modification of the LPS, the pleiotropic character of the lpxM mutation perhaps optimized synthesis of the major protein immunogens – that is, F1, Pla, V antigen BS Ymt – that resulted in an improved dose–effect phenomenon for the induction of the immune response.”

The correct sentences are shown below:

1. “Fraction 1 plays an important but not essential role for virulence, as F1- strains can cause lethal pneumonic plague in mice and nonhuman primates.”

2. “Although some of these effects could be attributed to modification of the LPS, the pleiotropic character of the lpxM mutation perhaps optimized synthesis of the major protein immunogens – that is, F1, Pla, V antigen, Ymt – that resulted in an improved dose–effect phenomenon for the induction of the immune response.”
