A Simple Method for the Determination of Glomerular Filtration Rate

Abstract

In 74 adult patients suffering from various renal diseases, the total [⁵¹Cr]EDTA plasma clearance (Cl) was compared to the [⁵¹Cr]EDTA clearance obtained on assuming a one-pool system (Cl₁). Cl₁ always exceeded Cl, and the relative difference increased with increasing clearance values. An equation for correction is given. The method for determining Cl₁ is very simple and suitable for clinical routine examinations.
