This article refers to:
Similarity in dental maturation in two ethnic groups of London children

The author would like to apologise for an error in calculating standard deviation using logistic regression in the publication of Annals of Human Biology, 2011; 38(6):702–715. DOI: 10.3109/03014460.2011.609565

Similarity in dental maturation in two ethnic groups of London children

Helen m. Liversidge

The standard logistic distribution has a variance = and a standard deviation = (Greene WH, Hensher DA. 2010. Modeling ordered choices. A primer. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, page 16.). This means that standard deviation values of mean age entering tooth stages in Tables III to XI are incorrect and require a correction factor. The standard deviation in Tables III, IV, and V as well as standard deviation for mean age at entry for Tables VI to XI should be corrected by multiplying with 1.814 year. The last sentence on page 709 that reads “Standard deviation values reflect the 1-year age intervals used in probit regression and SD is considerably reduced with logistic regression.” is incorrect.
