Pages 154-160 | Published online: 21 Dec 2009

Notes

1The reader is reminded that since the actual as well as theorized actions of methadone are irrelevant to the pharmacological actions and the “drug experiences” of the range of other non-opiates, which are used and misused by heterogeneous populations of (mal) functioning and (mal)adapting people, the goal of “abstinence” is basically a “principle of faith” unrelated to when a treatment goal is empirically indicated or contra-indicated.
