THE AUTHORS

Kerstin Stenius, PhD, is Associate Professor of Social Work and Research Director at the National Institute for Health and Welfare in Helsinki, Finland. She has done comparative and historical research on treatment systems, particularly in the Nordic countries. She is presently involved in projects on the integration of mental health care and substance user treatment in Finland, the conceptualization of problematic drug use in the history of Finnish treatment, and a Nordic project on drop out from opioid drug user substitution treatment.
