Young Investigator Award

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine is pleased to announce that, commencing in 2011, annual awards will be given for two best papers accepted for publication in the Journal by a Young Investigator.

The lead author of the winning papers, as adjudicated by the Editorial Board, will be awarded one of the below prizes, sponsored by Informa Healthcare and the European Association of Perinatal Medicine:

• a free registration to the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine annual meeting

or

• a free registration to the European Congress of Perinatal Medicine.Footnote*

At the beginning of June each calendar year, a team of judges will evaluate all eligible articles that were accepted for publication in the previous 12 months (1 June–31 May), and select two winning papers by 15 August.Footnote

The recipients of the award will be notified and announced in The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine.

Criteria

The criteria for selection of papers will include judgement on the following items:

  1. Originality of work.

  2. Potential to make impact within the field.

  3. Overall quality of paper in terms of organization, figures, tables, and appropriate citation of the literature.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Young Investigator Award, lead authors must be 40 years of age or younger at the time of submission, and are the lead authors of a full length original article, which has been accepted for publication. Authors must actively self-nominate their papers for consideration in a covering letter to accompany submission.

*In the years where there is no ECPM meeting, the winner can select a free registration to the EAPM International School meeting instead.

In exceptional circumstances, the editors reserve the right not to present an award in any given year if no articles are considered to have fulfilled the necessary criteria.
