Errors in the print and online publication of this paper have been noted.

The authors wish to point out that serum ferritin values in this publication have been multiplied 10-fold in error. Thus, for example, mean serum ferritin at day 90 was 17.9 ng/mL and 15.7 ng/mL with iron(III) polymaltose complex and ferrous sulfate, respectively (p = 0.014). This applies to all serum ferritin values shown in the Abstract, the Results section and Table III, but not the Methods.

The verso running head was incorrectly published as R. Ortiza et al.

This has been corrected to R. Ortiz et al.

The authors and publisher wish to apologize for these errors and any inconvenience caused.
