Abstract

Yangtze finless porpoise, Neophocaena asiaeorientalis asiaeorientalis, is a cetacea animal which has been reclassified as a Critically Endangered species by IUCN in 2013. In this study, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome of N. a. asiaeorientalis for use in future phylogenetic analyses. The complete mitochondrial genome of N. a. asiaeorientalis (16,385 bp in length) contained 37 genes (13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes) and a non-coding region (D-loop). Additionally, a rep-origin (35 bp) exists which is located between tRNAAsn and tRNACys.
