Abstract
Onychostoma gerlachi, which belongs to the genus Onychostoma (Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae), is an economic fish that inhabits the flowing freshwater in south of China. The complete mitochondrial genome of O. gerlachi was determined to be 16,601 bp long circular molecule with a typical gene arrangement of vertebrate mitochondrial DNA. It includes 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and a non-coding control region (D-loop). The overall base composition of O. gerlachi is 31.38% for A, 24.24% for T, 28.29% for C and 16.09% for G, with a slight AT bias of 55.62%. The complete mtDNA genome sequence of O. gerlachi obtained in this study provides fundamental data for studying genetic diversity and phylogenetics on this species.
