A Response to Seed et al, Regarding Choices of New Opioid Formulations

Abstract

I read with interest the article by Seed et al, “An Update in Options for the Treatment of Pain: A Review of New Opioid Formulations” (Hosp Pract (Minneap). 2012;40(1):166−175),¹ which reviewed new opioid formulations. The authors focused on innovations in opioid formulation, with respect to mechanism of action, routes of administration, and features designed to present obstacles to abuse.
