• [(1,2,3-n)-2-butenyl-1,4-diyl][(phyenylmethyl)imino]tricarbonyliron was prepared by the procedure of Ley et al.5 from [(1,2,3-n)-2-butenyl-1,4-diyl]oxycarbonyltricarbonyliron which was prepared from 2-butene-1,4-diol by a modification of the procedure of Murdoch.19 Benzene was used as the solvent instead of low boiling petroleum ether and the reaction was run at 55 rather than 40 °C
