• The ester group of N-methoxy-4-methoxycarbonylbenzenecarboximidoyl bromide (11) was selectively hydrolyzed in 95% ethanol with an equimolar amount of KOH or refluxing 5% HBr H2O-dioxane (1:1) for 11 h without affecting the imidoyl moiety to give the carboxylic acid in high yield.
