  • The 1H-nmr spectra of the crude product (before acidic hydrolysis) of the reaction of 1f with CAN indicated the presence of two compounds: 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde (10.42 ppm (1H, s), 7.29 ppm (1H, d, 4J= 3.3 Hz), 7.10 ppm (1H, dd, 3J= 9.1 Hz), 6.92 ppm (1H, d), 3.88 ppm (3H, s), 3.78 ppm (3H, s)) and 2,5-dimethoxyphenyldimethylaminomethanol (7.06 ppm (1H, d, 4J= 2.9 Hz), 6.90 ppm (1H, dd, 3J= 9.0 Hz), 6.84 ppm (1H, d), 4.15 ppm (1H, s), 3.81 ppm (3H, s), 3.74 ppm (3H, s), 2.74 ppm (6H, s))
