  • Palmitic anhydride was prepared by reacting dicyclohexyl carbodiimide (0.38 g, 1.82 mmol) with palmitic acid (0.99 g, 3.86 mmol) dissolved in 4 mL of chloroform. Dicyclohexyl urea was filtered off and the crude anhydride obtained after removing the solvent was recrystallized from acetone and left under vacuum to remove traces of solvents. Palmitic anhydride (0.88 g, 93%) was collected as bright white flakes
