• Unpublished results. When methyl thiohexanoate was refluxed in methanol over BER (3 eq) - Pd (0.05 eq) for 1 h, we obtained 95% of methyl hexanoate and 5% of hexanol. However, when Pd was absent, only 7% of methyl hexanoate and 8% of hexanol were observed. The alcoholysis of thioesters to esters are under investigation, and will be reported shortly
