  • It is reasonable to consider that this heroin—locally grown and known as “Persian Coke” (“cocaine”)—entered Israel through the “Good Neighbor Fence” between Lebanon and northern Israel; a border which had been relatively closed until this time. Police files note that there were 547 adjudicated drug cases in 1967; 729 in 1968, and 2542 in 1973.
  • Initially this was done by a private pharmacist, protected by Border Police, during the hours that his pharmacy was closed, at the national garbage dump, near the national airport.[46] When this methadone dispensing process was closed down a private medical clinic took its place as a methadone dispenser.
