Sustainable Waste Management and Bioproduction
Sustainable waste management is a global challenge and receiving increasing attention due its significant role in promoting sustainable development. Waste management is multidisciplinary in nature and is affected by technological, economic, environmental, social, and even political factors. Converting waste into products that can be used in a variety of fields, such as agriculture, health, environmental protection, energy, and so on, not only reduces pollution, but also generates significant economic and social benefits, in line with the green economy and waste biorefinery concepts. Waste management practices have been relatively well established in developed countries, while associated development and practices in developing countries are less mature, bearing significant socio-economic and environmental implications. This collection of articles at Sustainable Environment contains a list of works highlighting the existing challenge of sustainable waste management and/or clarifying the various practices and influential factors of waste management in developing countries. You would find such studies on the behaviour, impacts, social factors, and alternative methods of waste management across a wide range of countries.
